Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Vaultaire (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Vaultaire is an on-device encrypted photo and file vault for iOS. The App encrypts your data locally using a pattern-based key derivation system. We do not operate servers that store your data (aside from optional iCloud backup to your personal Apple account and optional vault sharing via Apple CloudKit).

Your Responsibilities

• Remember your pattern. Your pattern derives the vault key that unlocks your encrypted index and wrapped master key. If you forget your pattern and cannot use the recovery phrase, we cannot recover the vault for you.
• Save your recovery phrase. During setup, you are given a recovery phrase. Store it securely. It is the only way to recover your vault if you forget your pattern.
• Lawful use. You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with all applicable laws.
• Content responsibility. You are solely responsible for the content you store in the App.

No Data Recovery

Vaultaire uses client-side encryption and does not send Wraxle your readable vault, master, backup, or recovery keys. Recovery information is held in an encrypted Keychain database on your device, and optional CloudKit backup stores an encrypted recovery manifest. If no usable pattern, recovery phrase, protected local recovery record, already-unlocked device, or other key-bearing copy remains, Wraxle has no account-reset key that can decrypt the vault. Support cannot bypass the documented recovery paths.

Subscriptions and Purchases

• Vaultaire offers a free tier with limited storage and a premium subscription (“Vaultaire Pro”) for expanded features.
• Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and refund policies.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions.
• Subscription prices may vary by region and are displayed in the App before purchase.

Vault Sharing

• When you share a vault, you grant the recipient access to the encrypted data for the duration and under the conditions you specify (expiration, open limits).
• Share links contain the decryption key in the URL fragment. Anyone with the full link can access the shared vault. Share links responsibly.
• You are responsible for the content you share. Do not share illegal, harmful, or unauthorized content.

Duress Mode

Vaultaire includes a duress feature that removes local non-duress vault indexes and recovery mappings when a designated pattern is entered. The local action has no undo button and may make a vault inaccessible from that installation. Encrypted backups, peer-device copies, shared blob storage, operating-system artifacts, and forensic traces may remain. We are not liable for data loss or loss of access resulting from intentional or accidental use of this feature.

Intellectual Property

The App and website, including their design, code, branding, text, and original guide graphics, are owned by Wraxle LLC or used with permission. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these terms. These terms do not grant permission to reuse website content or guide graphics. To request permission for a guide graphic, use the support form.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. While we use industry-standard encryption (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2), no security system is absolute. Use the App at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, unauthorized access, or inability to access your data.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
